I try to appreciate things with more awareness, which sometimes I’m really good at, other times not. But at some point I was sat at the water, lazily staring at that smooth surface, with its calming effects, just letting my mind wander..and I realized that this very moment was one that I was perfectly happy in. I had all my needs met at that moment, and felt 100% content. So that was the moment I thought to myself: “I do not want to forget this feeling again, so I might as well take notes of such moments, so that I can always put my mind back into that place when I might need it, when I’m not as confident or happy”. And that’s what I did. I started taking notes in my phone of small everyday moments that just seemed absolutely perfect to me.

I will share a few of them with you here, in the hope that someone might recognize themselves in some of them or maybe even just to remind ourselves of the little things that make life so precious.

  • Watching a boat pass by, waving to complete strangers, smiling, having them wave back smiling.
  • Wildly flirting with a toddler on the subway, both of us giggling by the time I have to get off the train.
  • Waking up to a girl singing a long-forgotten children’s rhyme outside of my window.
