So. Some insane episode of mine a few weeks ago put this idea in my head that I’d like to get some insight into the world of coding. Yep, that’s right. It was MY idea, no one forced me to it. I thought, well, these lovely nerds doing it, sure look kinda wrapped up in it, something like I look when writing something that I’m dedicated to. So I thought, who knows? There might even be parallels, let’s find out!
Luckily, I have a very helpful brother who’s quite the genius with around a 100 years of experience when it comes to programming, and he was totally up to teaching me an “introductory lesson”.

Let me tell you: in school, back in the dark ages I had to learn some basic programming in a thing called DOS and BASIC, both of which I had since not even completely forgot about, but also never encountered again. For reasons, I’m sure. So, not knowing anything of everything I started into this first coding lesson by doing some free interactive learning on a, what I think, really cool platform calles sololearn. They kind of guide you through the basics to do-it-yourself examples of writing code. I started with HTML, since it only made sense (I was told).

At first it seems very straight forward, even for me, since everything is explained well. But you progress quickly and things get more and more complex and my head got more and more overloaded.
Well, I ducked and pulled through. After a live session with my brother doing the explaining that also started at ZERO, meaning talking about the binary system which builds the groundwork to all computing, we finally slightly touched on CSS and even a little JavaScript. So far, I can’t imagine myself programming something that someone else would pay money for, but it’s an interesting and completely odd world for me. Anything new is usually interesting, so I’ll keep posting about my progress in here. (Wish me luck!)
